Service Project: Scouting for Food

posted Apr 4, 2016, 5:19 PM by Verona Pack 32 Cub Scouts   [ updated Apr 22, 2016, 5:34 PM ]

On Sunday 4/23 , please collect and bring your bags to the church at 2:45pm.

This Sunday (4/16) we will be meeting at the church at 1:45pm in full Class A uniform where I will distribute shopping bags with the shopping flyer attached.  Please drop these bags around the Laning and Brookdale area on people's doorsteps and note where you dropped the items and send Russ Williamson the list so we can keep track!

Den 4 is spearheading a local food drive as part of their requirements for the Wolf Rank and we have decided to open this up to the entire Pack.  We're looking to have as many Cub Scouts as possible to participate by delivering a number of bags to houses in the Laning and Brookdale neighborhoods in one day and collecting those bags the following week.

We will be dividing whatever goods we collect between the Montclair Food Pantry and the new Verona Food Pantry.

This is an ideal way to get the Cub Scouts involved in our community.

We are looking to deliver the bags on Sunday April 17th at 2:00pm and then collect the bags on Sunday April 24th at 2:00pm.

All participating Cub Scouts and attending leaders will need to be in full Class A uniform.

If you want to take part please let Russ Williamson know by Sunday April 10th so we can organize for an appropriate number of bags and flyers to be produced.  We'll be looking for parents to come along as the boys make their rounds and we'll need assistance in transporting the results to the food banks so don't hesitate to throw you hats into the ring.

Please help us to make this project a success!
